Faculty Affairs Committee

The Faculty Affairs Committee is focused on cultivating a positive and engaging relationship between students and faculty at The University of Texas at Austin. The committee’s primary objective is to facilitate interactions by hosting student-faculty events and panels that showcase various colleges and groups on campus. They honor distinguished faculty, voted for by their students, in Senate’s Professor and TA of the Year awards. The members of the Faculty Affairs Committee recognize issues between teaching assistants, professors, and students by proposing legislation in an effort to resolve problems campus-wide. 

Current Committee Focus 

An annual event that the Faculty Affairs Committee hosts is the New Faculty Coffee Spree. All new professors at The University of Texas at Austin are invited to attend a meet and greet with students across the campus. This is a great opportunity for new faculty to get accustomed to the students and life at UT. This year, Faculty Affairs will be focusing on bridging the gap between students and their perceptions of academia through dedicated panels & luncheons, such as the Women of Color in Academia Panel, First-Gen Professor Panel, and International Women’s Day Celebration. These events will give students and faculty new avenues to create meaningful dialogue on campus.
